PC won't Start. Please Help!
« on: August 28, 2009, 02:03:22 AM »
Hello everyone, my bro's. PC does not start. I press the power button and all I get is a black screen. I opend up the PC and everything seem to be normal. All fans work, I tested the PSU and it seems to be working, I also reseted the CMOS and nothing, I also removed the battery and put back , nothing happened. Any ideas of what could it be? What else can I try.

Thanks for your help in advance.

It might sound simple but check your monitor!

Can you hear the HDD spinning?

The monitor is fine, I am using one monitor for two PCs. My PC works but my bro's does not. Is HDD= Hard Drive? Is that's the case yes I did. Any other ideas?

the bios chip is messed up or maybe the processor gives no signal........if the motherboard dosent offer a diagnostic signal, then the entire motherboard except the cards on the expansion slots is messed up
you must give us more info on it so we can give you help
why so serious?

When you start the computer do you hear any beep's from the motherboard during start up these can be helpful for diagnosing some problems heres a link to a useful site http://pcsupport.about.com/od/nonworkingcomponent/ht/beepcodestb.htm you will need to know your motherboards's bios manufacturer ie AMI/AWARD or PHOENIX then just go to the correct guide on the page.Might also be worth checking the graphics card  if it has a cooling fan is it powering up? might be worth trying another card if you have access to one (assuming its not onboard graphics)..

I want to thank all of you for your help and input. I fixed my bro's PC problem. Ady, I used that link you gave me and it worked great. The PC was making two beeps, one short and one long. Based on these beeps I was able to determine it was the RAM.

Thank you all.
